Artfire Vs. Eyeballs

November 30, 2009, 10:48 pm

Ok, so I’ve decided to kick my blog off with a post that has nothing to do with sewing or crafting in any way. Here we go:

I’ve recently decided to move my shop from Etsy to Artfire. It’s a long process, but Etsy is a dysfunctional mess next to Artfire, so It must be done. There are, however, a few things that I don’t like about Artfire, one being the light text on a light background that they use in the forums. My eyeballs are thirty years old, and they don’t work so good no more.

So, I posted a thread in the forums asking if Artfire had any plans to make the forums more eyeball friendly. With the help of MV, I was able to figure out how to override the css of a domain within my browser. I don’t need no stinkin admin help!

Here are the instructions for Firefox:

1. Install the Stylish addon here – Stylish

2. Click the Stylish logo in the firefox status bar and choose “write new style” and “for this url…”

3. A window will pop up with some text in it. Delete the two curly brackets at the end, and replace it with this text provided by MV:

BODY { color: black ! important ; } * { color: inherit ! important ; }

4. Now type “Black Text” in the name bar at the top, save it, and voila! You can read!

The color change can be disabled anytime from the button in the status bar. You’ll probably want to do that when you’re editing your studio, so you can see what it will look like to the public.

That’s all for now. Maybe tomorrow I’ll blog about cooking or how to change a tire.
