About a month ago, I got an email from Anita Talbert about including my clutches in the celebrity gift bags at the Oscar Suite of 100 Stars. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity and spent the next ten days working my ass off to get 55 clutches made. I took one night off to watch the Superbowl, and missed all of Mardi Gras. Cuong came over to help me on two of those days. The man has mad lint brushing and ribbon tying skills. For real. I’ll make a designer out of him yet.
The event was last Tuesday. I wasn’t able to be there in person due to my empty bank account, but Anita said that it went well and people liked the clutches. She sent me this picture of all the gift bag stuff spread out on a table:

Woohoo!
I made the bags in twelve different prints and took a picture of them all in a pile. The picture came out super crappy, so I’m not posting it. Don’t cry. I made a few extras for my shop. Find them in the clutches section.
I’ve also added two new shoulder bags. Find these in the shoulder bags section. Duh. Here’s a picture:

The old singer passed away last night. It was a decent little machine, and a bargain at only $140. I performed an autopsy, and determined the cause of death as “crappy plastic mechanical parts”.
I only had this machine for one year, but I did complete hundreds of projects with it. I guess that’s not such a bad deal. It had a sticker on it that read, “Is it inside out?” Paul made it for me because he was sick of hearing me complain about having to rip seams out after sewing pieces with wrong sides together. I am going to miss that sticker.
The good news is that I got a new sewing machine! It’s pretty much the same as the old one, except it was much cheaper and doesn’t have all those fancy stitches that I never used anyway. Here it is:

Isn’t it pretty? If you’re thinking that it looks like a toy, well that’s probably because it is basically a toy. This machine didn’t even come with instructions for oiling, which tells me that it wasn’t designed to last long enough to even need oiling. I’m going to oil it anyway, and when it dies, I’ll buy another one.
That’s all for tonight. I’m off to fill out my publishers clearing house sweepstakes entry form. As soon as Ed McMahon gets here, I’ll post some pictures of my awesome new industrial sewing machine.

I was hanging out in the Etsy chat room a few nights ago, when I came across the most killer shop. StaceRebbeca makes puppets. Really awesome puppets:

She also makes little finger puppets. Her food puppets are, of course, my favorite:

We got to talking, and it turns out that she occasionally opens for New Orleans’ own Quintron, with her show Die Puppet Die. Small world, right? If you’d like to stalk her, you can find instructions for doing so in her Etsy Profile. Here’s a bunch of links:

*If you don’t know who Quintron is, then you need to get with the times my friend. Check it: www.quintronandmisspussycat.com
